NASA Launches Gemini 3

Gemini 3 was the first launch of the Gemini program, whose goal was to develop techniques for advanced space travel. The flight marked the first time 2 people flew aboard an American spacecraft. The mission's primary goal was to test the new, maneuverable Gemini spacecraft. In space, the crew fired thrusters to change the shape of their orbit, shift their orbital plane slightly, and drop to a lower altitude. Why did the command pilot nickname the Gemini 3 spacecraft "Molly Brown?"

Schuyler Colfax

Schuyler Colfax was the 17th Vice President of the United States. First a Whig editor, he later helped to organize Indiana's Republican party. He was a member of the House of Representatives from 1855–1869, serving as speaker from 1863–1869. In 1868, he became vice president under Ulysses S. Grant. Colfax was involved in the Crédit Mobilier scandal, which ended his political career. How many towns in the US are named for him?
